People Forum for Human Right (People Forum) is a Non - governmental organization established for the protection of human rights and promotion of rule of law. The Forum has been established by legal activists including lawyers and law scholars. The organization executive committee is comprised of professionals from various backgrounds considering gender, ethnic and class representation.

Objectives of the organization are:  to work for the promotion of people’s political, economic, social and cultural rights; providing free legal aid service to those classes of citizens who do not have access to justice; initiating research on the issues of law, justice and human rights; filing the Public Interest Litigation cases with which people have due concerns; working for the promotion of legal rights of minorities, women, dalits, persons with disability and people from ethnic and indigenous communities; working for the reformation of Criminal Justice System and Penal System and working for the protection and promotion of migrant workers' rights.

People Forum for Human Rights (People Forum) is implementing Free Legal Aid and Paralegal Service Project in partnership with Safer Migration Project (SaMi), HELVETAS Swiss Inter cooperation Nepal. The overall goal of the project is safer and more beneficial migration for women and men, who voluntarily choose to go for labour migration. 

People Forum is seeking application from highly motivated, dynamic and result oriented qualified Nepalese citizens for the following position to support free legal aid service.

Vacancy for the post of Legal Aid Officer 

Position: Legal Aid Officer ( Paralegal Component) 

Position Type: Full Time

Experience: Minimum 2 years work experience in NGO

Location: Free Legal Aid Clinic, Buddhanagar, Kathmandu

Working Area:

The Legal Aid Officer will oversee project and will be part of planning, implementation of the project activities and provide free legal aid service to the victims of wrong doings in the context of Foreign Employment.

Required Qualification:

Bachelors degree in Law from recognized University (Compulsory license)

Knowledge and Skills:

• Good understanding on foreign employment act, regulation and relevant policies 
• Knowledge experience working with governments and non-government system
• Experiences of working with NGOs and networks,
• Good understanding of issues related to labor migration, human rights, gender and social equity,
• Result oriented, ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain deadlines and a good team player
• Skills on drafting legal documents
• Knowledge and skills on pleading cases at court.
• Good communication and documentation skill.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Nepali.
• Sound Knowledge in computer office packages, good typing skill both in Nepali and English.
• Minimum 2 years working experience in legal drafting and case handling.
