Swayam Gyan Adhyan Sanstha (Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI)) is an institution of higher learning in Boudhanath for those wishing to deepen their understanding of Buddhist philosophy and practice. RYI has been conducting seminars and study programs for more than 25 years. Since 2001, the Institute has worked in close partnership with Kathmandu University to manage the Kathmandu University Centre for Buddhist Studies at RYI which offers undergraduate and post-graduate degree courses in Buddhist Studies and related topics.
Position: Student Services Officer
Duration: 1 year (with possibility of extension)
Duty Station: Boudhanath, Kathmandu
Reports to: Head of Student Services
Position Description: The Student Services Officer works with the Head of Student Services to ensure quality Student Services and excellent Student Welfare for a diverse student body of national and international students. “Student Services” refers to support to help enable academic success, health and wellbeing, campus life and social events, and career counseling. The Student Services Officer works to enhance the well-being of the student body and provide students with the information, guidance, and support needed to ensure that their stay at RYI and in Nepal is rewarding and successful, at both academic and personal levels.
Qualified candidates require a Bachelor’s degree, and Master’s preferred. Qualifications in student support and/or in related fields such as Education, Counselling, Social Work, etc. are preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and spoken and written English are required. Further, skills in planning and organization, and experience in working with adults and students are important. Experience in delivering high quality customer service, with a strong understanding of how to respond to differing needs, with people from Asia, Europe, and the Americas, is essential. Computer Skills and experience in giving presentations to larger audiences are also required.
